Western European stock markets started Tuesday's session with growth. Investors continue to follow the corporate reporting season.
By 12:10 Moscow time the Stoxx Europe 600 composite index of the largest companies in the region had risen by 0.66% to 468.37 points.
France's CAC 40 is up 0.77%, Germany's DAX is up 0.6% and Britain's FTSE 100 is up 0.59%. Spain's IBEX 35 and Italy's FTSE MIB gained 1.2% and 1%, respectively.
Shares of British oil company BP Plc (LON:BP) are up 1.6%. BP increased its key profit indicator last quarter thanks to higher oil and gas prices. The annual profit was the highest in the last eight years. The company plans to spend $1.5 billion to buy back shares before the publication of statements for the current quarter. In addition, the supervisory board approved a quarterly dividend of $5.46 per share.
The capitalization of British energy distributor SSE PLC is up 1.5% after the company improved its outlook because of rising electricity costs, allowing it to offset the weak performance of its renewable energy division.
Meanwhile, the share price of German travel company TUI (DE:TUIGn) AG is down 1% despite the fact that its revenue in the first fiscal quarter increased fivefold to 2.37 billion euros and it expects a good performance this summer.
