We have a question from Wojciech who asks whether we have any advice on building an optimal PC set for trading.

Thanks for the question Wojciech, the first thing I would say is that I am definitely not a PC expert by any means, and I don’t know how changes in my setup from another PC would necessarily affect overall performance.
But having said that, I can show you what my system specifications are and show you my setup if that would help you out.

Also, keep in mind, my setup, especially the screens are set up for an analyst role, and even though I have 6 screens at the moment I will probably be able to do with 2 more if my graphics card allowed it, but I don’t think it will allow me more than 6 slots.

But that doesn’t of course mean that you need a setup like this, if I didn’t keep track of all the moving parts I currently keep track of then I would be able to get along with 2 screens, maybe even one if I really needed to.
So, let’s start with my desk setup, you’ll see I have three big monitors on the desk mounted on a steel desk mount that can hold three monitors, and then I have two wall-mounted brackets that I have used to attach the two monitors above, this is a new addition and it has been such a great addition, I can’t now imagine how I ever coped with just the three screens to be honest.

Something that also helps quite a lot is I have a keyboard that can adjust the sound with a scroller, which is great because I can easily increase and decrease the PC volume for important squawks and the videos when I need to.

Looking at the system settings itself, I’m currently running windows 10, with an Intel processor i-7, and RAM at 16.0GB. I opted for more RAM as I need to be able to run many applications at once, and I’ll probably look to upgrade to more RAM within the next month or so to ensure better functionality.
