In this video, we will be discussing the Forex symbol settings, and you can access the Forex symbol settings by going to tools and on the left selecting symbol settings.
Now, the first thing you'll see is that in the first window, you have all of the
historical data that is loaded on your system.
And on the right, you have options for changing the settings. The data file you import in Expert Advisor Studio contains the Forex symbol settings from your MetaTrader4 platform.
The Forex symbol settings page can benefit you because it allows you to change any values and parameters of the original file.
Therefore you can explore what works best for you and improve your strategies. The greatest thing about this feature of Expert Advisor Studio is that you can play with the settings as much as you want, and the data files keep their original information.
You can switch back to the initial values at any time. The first thing you would do is select the broker and the asset you want to work on.
So in this example, let's use the NZDUSD, and as you can see, the first
the option is the original settings from the data file.
And that is what you see here, but you can change that simply by clicking on the arrow you get the drop-down menu, and from there, you can change
it to custom symbol settings.
Now from here, you can change the spread, the swap type, the day that the 3-day swap happens, your long swap, your short swap, or the commission that you want to put in to generate your strategies, the lot size as well as the point value.
If at any time you want to go back to the original settings, all you need to do is just click on the drop-down menu again and select original settings from the data file.
If you want to remove the settings for the active symbol, all you do is just click on delete settings. This can be quite useful when you want to use a different symbol or turn back the original settings.
If you want to restore the simple settings record, you can just reload the data file or import it from MetaTrader.
