How to Get Historical Data from MT4

In this video, I'm going to be showing you how to get historical data from MT4 and how we then use that historical data to generate strategies in Expert Advisor Studio.
The first thing that we need to do is we need to download the script that we'll be using to export our historical data from the platform.
So what we need to do is we need to go to Expert Advisor Studio. We're going to go to the top where it says Data, click on that. And then under the drop zone, you'll see that there are 2 scripts that you can download.
One is for Meta Trader 4, and one is for Meta Trader 5.
We're using Meta Trader 4, so we're going to download the mq4 file. So what we're going to do is just click on the file, then download it into our default download location. And that's about it.
If you're not using Expert Advisor Studio, then you can simply download it from the resource file that is attached to the course. The next thing we need to do is go to our platform.
Once we have our platform open in front of us, what we're going to do is we're going to unselect this button here, which is Scroll the chart to the end of tick incoming.
And then what we're going to do is up here on the timeframe, select on our chart. We're going to start with M1. We're going to press it. We're going to do this for all of the timeframes.
The other thing that we need to know is what the commission is. So the easiest way to find out what your commission is is just open a buy or sell order.
You're on a Demo account, so it doesn't really matter if you make or lose money on it. So we're just going to do a buy order here very quickly. If it's the first time that you're using the One-Click Trading, which is up here in the left-hand corner, it will come up with this agreement that you have to agree to.
So I'm just going to click on I accept these Terms and Conditions, we're going to say OK, and then we're going to click on Buy. Now, as you can see, we've done a full lot, and the commission is 0. So that's fine.
What we're going to do is we're just going to close this trade, and all you need to do is just close the day like that.
So now, we know that our spread is right about 20, and our commission is 0. OK, so the next thing we need to do is put the script into our platform.
