In this video-Trading Strategy, Exit Point, we will be discussing exit rules.
Now, what are our Trading Strategy Exit Point?
Well, every strategy needs to have exit rules to know when to close a trade. In addition to our Take Profit and Stop Losses, we also include exit rules in our strategies.
If you choose not to include a trading strategy exit point, then the position will be closed at the next bar opening, which is the beginning of the next bar. To add an exit rule to your strategy, simply click on the button that says Add a new exit rule.
From here, you can select the exit rule that you want to include and the parameters for that rule. You can have a maximum of 2 exit rules per strategy.
As mentioned in other videos, we only put in our long entry and our long exit rules when creating a strategy, and the system will mirror our long entry rules and create our short entry rules.
For example, if we look at the Awesome Oscillator, you can see that the AO is higher than the level line.
However, if we go to our short entry, you see that the AO is lower than the level line. Now, this is not always the case. And in some cases, for example, on the ADX, you'll see that our long exit is ADX rises, and our short exit is also ADX rises.
What will happen in this case is that if we are in a buy trade and this rule is met, then the position will be closed at the beginning of the current bar.
But the same rule cannot be met if we are in a short position.
So instead, the opposite rule will be used. So if it happens that the rule is met during a short position, it will not be a valid exit rule, and the position will be kept open for the next bar.
Now, remember, as mentioned previously, we can have up to 2 exit rules, and for our exit to be executed, only one of these rules has to be
satisfied.
